Reader’s Question:

I’m doing a little search here over the internet to find a DUI lawyer who could help me in my DUI case in Oklahoma. Could you advise me on what I should be mindful about in doing my search for a DUI lawyer online?

Bowen

Edmond, OK

If you are doing your search online to find a DUI lawyer to help you on your DUI case in Edmond, Oklahoma, you have to be cautious of the blind submission site. There are websites which boast that they have a network of DUI lawyers in place and every have offices in every state. This is the kind of website where you fill out a blind form and it is mailed to a number of DUI lawyers in your area dying to take your DUI case.

After that, they can bid for the privilege of representing you. But the question is, do you really want a DUI lawyer who will engage in a bargaining war for the privilege of handling your DUI case? And if so, do you realize that in addition to cutting their fees to “compete” for your business, these DUI lawyers probably also give a cut or kickback to the referral service. I really doubt that there is a DUI defense law firm that actually has an associate employee or an equity partner in every state.

Reader’s Question:

I’m looking for a DUI lawyer here in Lawton, Oklahoma who would defend me in my case. I’m pretty sure you could help me, so could you tell me how do I find one?

Daniel

Lawton, OK

The perfect method to measure a qualified DUI lawyer is through their reputation. Even though the top level known lawyers are considerably expensive, there are ways that you can find more affordable DUI lawyers in Lawton, Oklahoma. The foremost method is found simply through asking lawyers in your local area who they believe are the most qualified in DUI defense. I also suggest that you can visit courthouses to ask bailiffs, clerks and public defenders as to which DUI lawyer would they recommend.

The uppermost recognition a DUI lawyer can receive is a Board-certification. This would show a great amount of ability and experience. Another powerful indication of expertise is membership with the National College for DUI Defense. You should also look for a lawyer who has a strong background and large amount of DUI case. He/she should have a reputation of going to trial for strong defenses. Remember also to take note that the DUI lawyer’s financial commitment is well-stated.

What Does AV Rated Oklahoma DUI Lawyer Mean?

Reader’s Question:

What does the part of the ad mean that says that it is an AV rated Oklahoma DUI lawyer?

Charlie

Tulsa OK

Good question, Charlie.

This part of the ad refers to the AV rating system, a system employed to rate lawyers on many things. This rating tells you exactly what kind of quality the AV rated Stillwater OK DUI lawyer is, but even so it doesn’t sit in for a consultation and just because a lawyer is good doesn’t mean they are good for you.

For DUIs, unless your filthy rich, I’d only suggest looking for an expensive best rated AV lawyer if you have a very bad case with a bad outlook. Otherwise, even though a good AV rating does mean that the lawyer is experience, intelligent, and wins a lot of cases, that doesn’t mean that they are for you. Remember that your most important thing to do is to find a lawyer who is an expert in DUI law, not just law in general, so one of these good lawyers might have knowledge but not the kind that suits you.
